Khenpo Sonam Gyatso Rinpoche

Khenpo Sonam Gyatso Rinpoche counts as one of the most important scholars of Tibetan Buddhism and teacher of the Drukpa order.

Born in the Tibetan province Kham, his flight led him to India, where he was ordained by the first Thuksey Rinpoche in Darjeeling. He got his education from H.H. the 14th Dalai Lama, H.H. the 12th Gyalwang Drukpa, Je Khenpo Drukpa, Je Khenpo Yönten Ö, Gyen Khentse and a multitude of other great teachers. His studies of Buddhist philosophy and logic took over nine years at the university of Benares/India.

He received the titel Khenpo (which clarifies his profound knowledge as well as his wisdom) from H.H. the 16th Karmapa and from H.H. the 12th Gyalwang Drukpa. For over 35 years Khenpo Rinpoche teaches Buddhist philosophy and logic at the central institute for Tibetan university education in Benares. He is a regular guest at different international conferences. From his lively and charismatic way of teaching, which conveys his compassion as well as his wisdom, benefit many people around the world.
